The Cincinnati Observatory welcomes you with open domes 2012. We will have a constellation of public events and chances to look through the oldest telescope in the United States. Please peruse our schedule of special events for the coming year and make a date with the stars. All events are at the Observatory and do not require reservations unless stated.

The clouded, shrouded goddess of beauty is back. See her through the old telescope.

Valentine's Night
There is nothing more romantic than the night sky. Starry-eyed lovers have been gazing upward in wonder for millennia. So, this year give your Valentine a true, out-of-this-world experience at the Cincinnati Observatory.

Olde Fashioned Slide Show
Travel back in time! Enjoy an old-fashioned slide show at the Cincinnati Observatory using a period projector. These historic glass plates from the Observatory's unique collection tell of its heritage and early star gazing events of the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Popcorn and refreshments will be served.

The tiny planet Venus crosses in front of the Sun.
This rarest of astronomical events will not happen again until the year 2119. Don’t miss it.
Please do not try to view this yourself – looking at the Sun is dangerous. View with the safe Observatory equipment.
Cost: Recommended donation of $5 per person
